A GI pipe fitting is used at the places where there is heavy exposure to destructive forces of nature such as heat, wind and water. These pipes are coated with a uniform layer of zinc in order to prevent the weather and natural elements from doing damage to the pipe. This process is called galvanization. GI pipe fittings are available in many shapes and sizes as they are regularly used and are in demand due to their strength. The GI pipes are colored to avoid confusion. Available in diameter of 8mm to even 100mm, these pipes are used everywhere. Therefore, the presence of GI pipe fitting is imperative. A proper fitting will ensure that there is no loss of fluid contained within.

These are three main types of GI pipes which include:

• Light - Class A is marked yellow color to recognize it.
• Medium - Class B is marked blue color to recognize it.
• Heavy - Class C is marked red color to recognize it.
• The grading is done according to the thickness of the fittings.
